Grace Merkle Obituary
Grace Ann Merkle was called home to heaven on April 1, 2014. She was born to Rev. Irving and Ann Carlson on August 3, 1948 in Marinette, WI. Grace spent her childhood helping alongside her parents serving in churches throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota. Grace attended North Park College in Chicago, IL. Grace was married to Bob Merkle in Beloit, WI on September 2, 1967. Grace and Bob moved to Loveland, CO in 1972 where they raised their two sons, Joe and Aaron. Grace was a dedicated and loving mother devoted to the family and raising them in the faith. Grace continued to serve as a volunteer in several children's organizations and women's church groups. She worked as an executive assistant at Colorado Memory Systems. Later Grace became a project manager for Hewlett Packard. After retiring from HP she enjoyed working part-time at LovelandChurch of the Nazarene. Grace loved music and was a talented singer active in the choir. She also was a song writer, producing her own Christian album, writing a children's musical, and performed in numerous musicals through church. She enjoyed the outdoors and spent time with family skiing, hiking, and gardening. Grace's love for animals began at a young age riding horses and later breeding standard poodles. Grace is survived by her husband Bob Merkle of Loveland, son Joe (Bobbie) Merkle of Fort Collins, brother Dwight (Dawn) Carlson of Loveland, brother Russell (Cheryl) Carlson of Athens GA, brother- in-law Lawrence (Susan) Merkle of Carpentaria CA, aunt Lorna Hayes of Wilmer MN, uncle Gordon Wickstrom of Stephenson, MI, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son Aaron, mother Ann, and father Irving. Her strong belief in God guided her life. She carried Christ's love in her heart and touched the lives of many people. Grace will be dearly missed. Funeral Services will be held at Loveland Church of the Nazarene, 807 W. 29th St. at 2:00 on Monday the 7th of April with interment to follow at Loveland Burial Park. Visitation will be held at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, 1102 N. Lincoln Ave. in Loveland from 2:00-4:00 on Sunday the 6th of April. Memorial contributions may be made to Loveland Church of the Nazarene in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home
