Laura Robinson Obituary
Laura Elizabeth Robinson was born February 11, 1973 in Omaha, Nebraska to Dennis and Sharon (Martin) Robinson. As a young girl, Laura's family moved from Omaha to Lincoln, Nebraska, Bloomington, Illinois, and back to Lincoln before settling in Loveland, Colorado in 1987. Laura graduated from Loveland High School in 1991. While growing up, Laura was active as a swimmer and dancer, and was on the cheerleading squad. She enjoyed reading, and was a gifted and self-motivated student who excelled in her advanced placement classes. She also developed a lifelong love for animals, caring especially for her cats Kobe and Kelsey. Following her high school graduation, Laura attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, where she earned her Bachelor's of Science degree, Master's degree, and ultimately earning her PhD, and becoming a Doctor of Clinical Psychology in 2002. She moved to Omaha, where Dr. Robinson first practiced at the University Medical Center, and went on to open her own private practice. Upon moving to Omaha, Laura made a special friend in Jeff Cassler. Laura and Jeff became engaged in 2010 on Jeff's Birthday. The two of them enjoyed traveling together through the years, especially trips to Tucson, Arizona, and to the Virgin Islands. Laura was very active, and enjoyed running, yoga and Pilates. She was a private person, but she loved spending time with and going to lunch with her girlfriends. Laura was a person with a big heart, and was constantly giving back to others, and she seemed to have a knack for always sending the perfect gift. She loved to spend time with friends and loved ones, and loved all children she came in contact with. She will be remembered as a kind and generous, loving and accepting woman, who cared for animals. She was a compassionate therapist who was loved by her patients, and had great joy with her nephew, niece and friends. Laura passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at her home in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 39 years, 6 months, and 22 days. She was preceded in death by her father, Dennis Robinson, 3 grandparents, and her Aunt Maureen, Aunt Debbie and Uncle Tom. Laura is survived by her fiancé Jeff Cassler of Omaha, mother Sharon Robinson of Loveland, Colorado, brother Bill Robinson and his children Brayden and Brinley of Lewisville, Texas, grandmother Lorna Robinson of Omaha, and numerous extended family members. A private gathering was held in Omaha for family and close friends. Memorials may be made to the Nebraska Humane Society. Condolences to www.reichmuthfuneralhomes.com.
