Theodore G. (Ted) Wahler Obituary
Theodore (Ted) George Wahler was born on July 11, 1924 to Eleanor and Nicholas Wahler in Buffalo, New York. He attended school in Buffalo and left Canisius College to join the Army during World War II. He served in Europe from March 17, 1943 ' til January 29, 1946. After the War he received a degree in Business from Marquette University in Wisconsin and a Master' s Degree in Education from Denver University in Denver. While working in Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia for the Arabian American Oil Company, Ted became engaged to fellow employee Pearl Obert and the two were married in Geneva, Switzerland on June 12, 1954. Ted worked for Samsonite Corporation as Director of Research and Development for the Toy Division. He moved to Loveland in 1970 and, when Samsonite closed the Lego Division, Ted worked for and eventually retired from Colorado State University, in Fort Collins, Colorado. Ted loved skiing, swimming, sailing, golf, tennis and remote-control airplanes and was a wonderful ballroom dancer. Ted and Pearl had five sons who were his greatest source of joy. He hoped they and their families knew how proud he was of each of them. He is survived by his wife Pearl, sons Ted Jr. (wife Yan, children Bang and Kun), Eric (wife Brenda, daughter Yonten Lozang), Jim, John (wife Lisa, children Justin and Jenna) and Tim. Services will be at St. John' s Catholic Church in Loveland on Friday, March 8 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers please make any Memorial gifts to St. John the Evangelist School.
