May Brandt Obituary
May Irene Brandt, 90, of Berthoud, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013 in Loveland, CO. May was born June 16, 1923, in Carthage, MO, to William (Merrell) and Nellie Jones. She had two brothers, Bill and Buck. During World War II, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August of 1943. She was stationed in Bronx, NY and Norman, OK. May was honorably discharged in December of 1945 as a seaman. While serving in the U.S. Navy, May met her husband, Francis James Brandt. They were married on November 6, 1946 at the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Boulder, Colorado, which they attended for many years. Together they raised four sons, James (Jim), Michael (Mike), Gregory (Greg), and William (Bill). She loved living on their Boulder, CO farm and raising four boys. She had many fond memories of the farm; one of her favorite memories was being able to ride the snowmobile after dark. She also enjoyed riding with her husband, who was known as the "Tractor Guy", to deliver farm equipment from their Ford tractor business. She liked to travel and fish and also play Rummy-O with Francis each night after dinner. May and Francis sold their farm and moved to Loveland, CO in 1981, and in 2000 they moved to Berthoud, CO. For the last two and a half years, May lived at Apple Leaf Assisted living in Berthoud Colorado. She had a really great time there and made good friends, which she considered extended family. May is survived in death by her sons, Michael Brandt of Lingle, WY, Gregory and Robyn Brandt of Wheatland, WY, William Brandt of Lingle, WY; ex-daughter in-law Janell Brandt of Johnstown, CO; grandchildren, Penny Brandt, Mandi Brandt, Laurie Gibson and her husband Gabe Gibson; and great grandchildren, Grady and Bailey Gibson. May was preceded in death by her beloved husband,Francis Brandt; son,James Brandt; parents,William and Nellie Jones; and brother, Bill Jones. Upon her wishes to be laid to rest with her beloved husband, a combined memorial mass for both Francis and May Brandt will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday January 11, 2014 at the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Boulder, CO. Inurnment will follow at Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder, CO. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary in Longmont.
