Will Brown Obituary

Will Douglas (Bill) Brown

Eastland County, TX

Will Douglas (Bill) Brown left this world to be with our Lord February 15, 2014, at the ripe age of 85. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. February 21st at the Leon River Cowboy Church in Olden, Texas, followed by burial services at Murray Cemetery in Carbon, Texas under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland, TX.

He was born May 4th, 1928, Fisher County, Texas, to Fred and Gladys Brown. At the early age of 17, Bill came to Eastland County to work for his Uncle Clint McCain on a cattle operation. Soon after, he met Bonnie Wynelle Lovell and they married February 23, 1952. Bill served in the Korean War from 1954-1956. In 1957, his son Kris Brown was born.

A hard working rancher and farmer, he always had time to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. A pillar of the community Bill never said a whole lot, but when he did everyone listened. He was awarded the Conservation Farmer/Rancher of the Year in 1997. He also served on the Upper Leon Soil and Water Conservation Board from 1973-1989 and served on the Texas Farm Bureau Board of Directors for many years. He was a member of the Kokomo Baptist Church.

From 1986 to date, wife Wynelle, son Kris and his wife D'aun, granddaughter Kristal and grandson Billy Bob, worked side by side in the farming and cattle operation in Eastland County. Bill's saying to his kids was, "whatever you decide to do in life, just make sure you do it 100%", just as he did.

Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother, Fred and Gladys Brown, his brother and his wife, Jim and Sue Brown, two great grandsons Graham Lee and Slade Douglas Elliott, and nephew Alvie Allison.

Bill is survived by wife Bonnie Wynelle (Lovell) Brown, son Kris Brown and his wife D'aun, 2 grandchildren Kristal Brown Elliott and her husband Daryl, grandson Billy Bob Brown, 2 great grandchildren Parks and Kingstyn Elliott, brother Fred Brown and wife Donna, Nephew Jim Cole Brown, niece Ann Lowery and her husband Shane, with many other family members.

In lieu of flowers, family would ask memorials be made to West Texas Rehab, Children's Miracle Network, Murray Cemetery Fund, or Carbon Fire Department.
