Cassie Faye McGlothlin, 95, passed away October 25, 2013 in Abilene. Visitation will be Monday, October 28, 2013 from 6 to 7 PM, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 2 PM, Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Southern Hills Church of Christ, 3666 Buffalo Gap Road. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Cassie Faye McGlothlin was born May 31, 1918, in Nugent, TX to Cass Rowland and Hattie Jane Proctor. Her family moved to Hamlin when she was a young child. Cassie was the youngest of 4 children; two sisters and one brother all of whom preceded her in death.
After graduating from Hamlin High School in May 1935, she attended the Draughn's School of Business. This is where she met and married Bill McGlothlin in September 1935. She and Bill were married for 66 years and were blessed with two children prior to his death in 2002. Cassie worked for 20 years as a clerk typist for the Federal Government in Soil Conservation Services. She was a devoted member of the Southern Hills Church of Christ and a lifelong member of the 16th and Vine Church of Christ. Cassie was very devoted to the ministries of the church and loved spending her time working to help and bless others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, 1 daughter, Billie K. Owen, 1 granddaughter, and 1 great grandson.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Dina Ferguson of San Marcus, 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Christian Service Center, 901 Mesquite, Abilene, TX 79606.
