Gloria JoAnne Gray, 84, of rural Green Hill, passed away at IU Arnett Hospital at 5:30 a.m. Sept. 25, 2013 from complications of a stroke. She was born January 21, 1929 in Danville, Ill. She was the adopted daughter of C. Earl and Tamsy M. (Shoaf) Wagoner. She married LeRoy Thomas Gray Nov. 6, 1948 at Armstrong Chapel. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1988.

JoAnne was a 1947 graduate of Otterbein High School. She was a member of Armstrong Chapel United Methodist Church, where over the years she served in many capacities, including pianist and organist. She also was a member of United Methodist Women, Delta Sigma Kappa Sorority (Epsilon Chapter), TOPS, and several Bridge groups. She had also served on the Medina Township Advisory Board. She retired from Purdue University School of Civil Engineering business office in 1991 after 22 years of service. JoAnne enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching, quilting, and visiting with family and friends.
Surviving are three daughters, Gloria (Dwight) Harwood of Noblesville, Sue (Bill) Murray of Olney, Md., and Cathy (Bill) Dolk of Houston, Texas, son David (Maureen) of Lafayette, eight grandchildren, Brady (Kathryn) Plummer, Amanda (Scott) Hill, Bill (Megan) Murray, Ellen (Phil) Saltzman, Lauren Dolk and Bryan Dolk, Patrick (Debbie) and Elaine Gray, three great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons and sister, Adora (Myer) Strohl of Homer, Ill. A brother, Robert Myer, preceded her in death in 1980.
Funeral services were held Sept. 28 at Armstrong Chapel United Methodist Church, with Pastor Gene Ansell officiating. Burial was in Armstrong Chapel Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Armstrong Chapel United Methodist Church or to Warren County's Salvation Army.
