Susan A. (Evans) Fischer, 55, passed away at her residence, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at 4:25 p.m., following a brief illness with cancer.

Susan was born in Richland, Wash., on March 17, 1958. She is the daughter of Kenneth G. and Mary Ann (George) Evans of rural Williamsport. She was raised in rural Williamsport, near Hedrick and graduated from Seeger Memorial High School in 1976. She later received her nursing degree from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Lafayette in 1979. She has resided in rural Attica, in Shawnee Township, since Oct. 20, 1979.
Susan worked as a registered nurse for the Lakeview Medical Center and St. Elizabeth Hospitals, both in Danville, Ill. She later worked at the Fountain-Warren County Health Department and for The Waters of Covington Nursing Center. Her most recent nursing positions were held at St. Vincent Home Health Care and she was presently working at Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the time of her illness. Susan touched many lives in her nursing career and her community involvement.
Susan was very active in the community and served for 12 years as Leader of the Shawnee Shamrocks 4-H Club. Through the years she was affectionately known as "Momma Fischer" to many children. She served on the Fountain County 4-H Council and served as Superintendent of various projects during the fair. She was a member of the Domesticated Engineers Homemakers Club. She enjoyed scrapbooking and was part of the Warren County "Scrappin' Sisters." She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and helping on the family dairy farm. She was especially proud of her three children and their graduations from Purdue University. She was also an active member of the Attica Christian Church, where she enjoyed singing. On the fifth Sunday of every month Susan was the song leader for the service.
On Oct. 20, 1979, Susan married Gregg R. Fischer in Alvin, Ill.
She leaves her husband, Gregg of 34 and a half years; her parents Kenneth G. and Mary Ann Evans, Williamsport; a daughter, Lynn (boyfriend-Jason Shrock) Fischer, Attica; two sons, Kurt (Mindi) Fischer, Attica and Jeff (Allison) Fischer, Paoli; a brother, Michael (Lisa) Evans, Williamsport and family; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held March 1 with Pastors Bob Elness and David Sims officiating. Burial followed in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
