Floyd S. Brown, Jr., 73, of rural Hillsboro, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at 1:20 p.m.
Floyd was born in Crawfordsville, on September 27, 1939. He was the son of the late Floyd Simpson and Margaret (Davidson) Brown. He had been a resident of rural Mellott most of his life. He graduated from Richland Township High School in 1957.
Following graduation Floyd entered the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Elite Strategic Air Command. At the time of his honorable discharge in 1962, he had attained the rank of Airman 1st Class.
Floyd worked as a Supervisor for RR Donnelley in Crawfordsville until his retirement in 1992.
Floyd was a member of the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene. He was an avid race fan and especially enjoyed Kart racing. His big passion was watching his grandson, Jacob Brown, race karts and assisting him in the pits.
On February 7, 1959, Floyd married Patricia Ann Oakley in Mellott.
Floyd leaves behind his wife, Patricia "Pat" of 54 years; a daughter, Karen (Keal) Webster, Veedersburg; two sons, David E. Brown, Wiesbaden, Germany and Roger A. (Diane) Brown, Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Jessica) Webster, Seth (Lydia) Webster, Amy Brown and Jacob Brown; two great-grandchildren, Abby and Nathan Webster.
A Life Celebration service was held at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene on August 4 with Pastors Greg McDonald and Mike McCollum officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made in Floyd's memory to the Church of the Nazarene Youth Mission.
