Miles R. Allen(1934 - 2014)

Miles R. Allen, 79, a longtime resident of Newdale, passed away June 10, 2014, at his home in Ammon.
Miles was born Dec. 26, 1934 in Rexburg, Idaho, the son of Paul Lavier and Zola Loretta Rawlins Allen. He grew up in Newdale and graduated from Sugar-Salem High School. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.
He married Evelyn Hansen in l959, they were married 22 years and had three children before they were divorced.
He married Marva Rae Hull on Dec. 28, 1984, in Teton, Idaho. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in the Teton-Newdale area, where Mr. Allen farmed and ranched. They moved to Ammon just over a year ago. They spent several winters in St. George, Utah and Phoenix, Ariz.
Miles enjoyed horses, riding, racing, visiting with people and going to auctions.
He is survived by his wife, Marva, of Ammon; children, Rosemary (Kelly) Goodman, of Gooding, Idaho; John Atwood, of Blackfoot, Idaho; Steven (Debbie) Allen, of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; Denton (Susan) Allen, of Newdale, Idaho; Jo (Roy) Baker, of Rexburg, Idaho; Jerry (Lisa) Butler, of Gooding, Idaho and Jackie Ryan, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one sister, Donna (Jay) Coates, of Moab, Utah. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Margo Brooks.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Newdale LDS Church with Bishop Jason Grover officiating. Friends may call at the Bidwell Funeral Home Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and at the Newdale Church Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. just prior to services.
