Ruth Barnes Allen Longmore, 87, of Rexburg, Idaho, passed away Dec. 13, 2013, at Rexburg Care & Rehabilitation. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
Ruth was born Jan. 20, 1926, in Ogden, Utah, to Alfred Emory Barnes and Dorothy Tracy Barnes. She grew up and attended schools in Ogden, Utah, and graduated from High School in Arco, Idaho.
Ruth married Clyfton Allen, and they moved to Teton, where they raised their family of five children. Clyfton passed away Oct. 3, 1955, as a result of a farming accident.
In April 1970, she married Hyrum Longmore at Idaho Falls, Idaho. He passed away in March, 2007. Ruth worked for Simplot for over 30 years. She had also worked for Deseret Industries, the Paramount Theater, in cafe's, a nursing home and at Ben Franklin.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various positions in the church. She served an LDS mission in Houston, Texas, with her husband Hyrum. She worked in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, making quilts, camping and visiting family. She was a member of the St. Anthony VFW
Ruth is survived by daughters, Kathleen (Roger) Wolfe, of Teton, Idaho and Janice (Randy) Rine of Nampa, Idaho; a son, Gary (Lorna) Allen, of Teton, Idaho; brothers, Arlin Tracy (Wilma) Barnes, of Layton, Utah and Edward "Ted" (Carma) Barnes, of Star, Idaho; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; six step-children, and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Emory Barnes, two sisters, Lou Jean and Dorothy Ann; four brothers Austin, Byron, Vern and Eldon; two husbands, Clyfton J. Allen and Hyrum Longmor; and two sons, Glenn and Emory; and a stepson, Clyff.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at Teton LDS 2nd Ward, 44 West Main Street in Teton, with Bishop Craig Carter officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery.
