Dorothy Mary Bolland, 83, of Ashton, formerly of Idaho Falls, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at the Ashton Living Center of natural causes.

She was born on Oct. 14, 1923, in Ashton to Henry and Frieda Bolland. She spent her early years on the family farm in Squirrel.
As a young girl she went to work at the Hamilton Store at Old Faithful in Yellowstone Park, and worked there for three summers.
Some of her friends at the Park asked her to go to San Diego, so she moved to Mission Beach, Calif., got a job at Convair and began attending San Diego State College.
She was a vertical milling machine operator at Convair for three years and then went into inspection. While attending San Diego State College, she took up technical illustration, three-dimensional drafting. She illustrated for many companies and worked for General Dynamics from 1979 to 1989 when she retired.
She was an accomplished painter and loved to draw and paint. She also enjoyed playing and listening to music.
She attended Faith Lutheran Church in San Diego and served as financial secretary and on the Stewardship Board. When Faith Church moved to East County, she bought a mobile home and moved to Santee, Calif.
At the time of her death, she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ashton.
She is survived by two brothers, F. William "Bill" (Margaret) Bolland and John Bolland, and a sister, Rosemarie (Thomas) Jacobsen, all of Ashton; and many dear nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Herbert, Paul and Henry Bud.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Zion Lutheran in Ashton. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Baxter Funeral Home, 717 Main Street, in Ashton, and Wednesday for one hour prior to services at the church.
Burial will be in the Squirrel Cemetery.
