L.B. "Ren" Kofoed, 97, of Annis, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at his home.
He was born Feb. 2, 1916, in Weston, Idaho, to Clarence Henry Kofoed and Grace Amelia Baird Kofoed.
He graduated high school in Weston, Idaho, and then received his bachelors degree from Ricks College and masters degree from Utah State University.
He served in World War II as an airplane mechanic.
He married Ardis Shaw May 5, 1946, in Evanston, Wyo. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple March 11, 1959.
He worked in the Civil Conservation Corp, building bridges and roads in Yellowstone Park. He taught Industrial Arts in Ashton High School. He enjoyed jewelry-making, leatherwork, carving, and fly tying. He loved to fly fish and hunt.
He worked as a clinical psychologist in private practice and in school systems.
He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a temple worker and teacher. He held the office of high priest.
He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn (Cory) Jones, of Rigby; three sons, Wayne Kofoed, of Arlington, Texas; Robert (Terri) Kofoed, of Flower Mound, Texas and Reed (Carmen) Kofoed, of Winnemucca, Nev.; one sister, Norma, of Prumph, Nev.; and a brother, Lyle, of Green River, Wyo; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardis, his parents, four sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at the Menan LDS Stake Center; 698 N. 3600 E., Menan. The family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Friday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Cache Clawson Cemetery.
