Noel G. Brown, 73, of Ammon, passed away June 21 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Noel was born Sept. 5, 1938, in Riverside to Robert Douglas Brown and Alberta Gardner Brown.
He grew up in Lewistown, Mont., and attended schools in Riverside and Lewistown.
He served in the United States Navy in the School of Music and later attended the University of Montana and Brigham Young University.
On Dec. 28, 1963, he married Charleen Marie Engstrom in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Together they raised six children in Sugar City.
Noel was a band director at Ricks College for 17 years. He then taught humanities until he retired.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Noel served faithfully in numerous callings. He was a member of bishoprics at Ricks College and in Sugar City.
Noel enjoyed reading, fishing and watching movies. He loved his family and was always willing to lend a hand.
He is survived by his wife, Charleen Engstrom Brown; sons, Douglas Lynn (Liz) Brown, of Idaho Falls, Steven Noel (Nancy) Brown, of Olathe, Kan., Michael Scott (Rhonda), of Ammon, Jeffrey Warren (Tiffany) Brown, of Idaho Falls; daughters Alisa Marie (Barry) Humpherys, of 29 Palms, Calif., and Jennifer Brown, of Idaho Falls; 20 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Warren Brown and Scott Brown.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, at the Ammon Ninth Ward, 4459 John Adams Parkway, with bishop Boyde Southwick officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home, 963 S. Ammon Road and 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Riverside-Thomas Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.woodfuneralhome.com.
