Gail Blanchard, 78, of Chester, moved peacefully from this life to the next on the 16th day of August, 2014.
He was born April 29, 1936, at his present home in Chester, Idaho, where his parents, Arlo Murle and Mary Brenchley Blanchard farmed.
He attended schools in St. Anthony, graduating from South Fremont High School in 1954. He served an LDS mission in the Northwestern states from 1956 to 1958. The mission area included Oregon, Washington and Alaska.
He married Jacqueline Peck on Dec. 4, 1958, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were later blessed with five wonderful children. They were a great help in managing dairy cows and sheep over the years as they were growing up.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many positions, including bishop of the Chester Ward from 1978 to 1984. He and Jacqueline also served an LDS mission to the Nevada Las Vegas Mission and also served as ordinance workers in the Rexburg LDS Temple.
He enjoyed teaching and working as a school administrator in the Fremont School District from 1966 to 1996. The students, fellow teachers and administrators were a pleasure to work with throughout those 30 wonderful years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family. He and Jacqueline stressed to the children the importance of the family and the church in their everyday life here upon this earth.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline, of Chester; children, Lisa (Broc) Thompson, of Rexburg, Idaho; Lori (Ben) Owens, of Palmer, Alaska; Brenda (Bryce) Francom, of Taber Alberta, Canada, Shane (Jenilee) Blanchard, of Chubbuck, Idaho; Eric G. Blanchard, of Salt Lake City, Utah; 19 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three more on the way; and a sister, Harriet (Garth) Hill, Salem, Utah.. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, LaWana and three brothers, Daren, Dee and Lane.
