I was sad to read of Uncle Russell's passing; and sorry that it wasn't in time to attend his funeral - as I've been out of town.. My mother (Marlene Hoopes Withers) loved him very much. I had the opportunity to visit him in his home with my mother on a couple of occasions and could see why she loved him. What a sweet man. He was fun to visit with. He will be missed.

My sincere condolences to Aartje, Beverly and John. I am glad I knew Russell and will always remember his laugh and sense of humor. He was a good friend of my parents and a joy to be with.

It is with great sadness we say goodbye to our beloved friend and neighbor of 25 years. Russell was a man of great integrity, kindness, and generosity and it has been our privilege and blessing to have had him in our lives. He will be greatly missed by many; as he touched the lives of all who knew him. His friendly smile couldn't help but draw you into his warmth of spirit. Our prayers go out Aartje and the family.
Goodbye our dear and treasured "energizer bunny"; you remain in our hearts.

We had the privilege of being in the Meadowbrook 2nd ward with Russell and Aartje. He welcomed us from the second we got there and always made us feel like family. Russell and Aartje are such great examples of love and faith. Our prayers are with Aartje and family.

I'm sure there is a great fun now up there with Edna and all the couple friends of Russell. They were like aunts and uncles to our generation. We vacationed together and most Sundays got together for a good time after church.
Russell is the last of a good group of people that were examples to us.
We sorrow with the family, but rejoice in his good life.

Really enjoyed visiting my Great Uncle. He reminded me so much of my grandpa John Verl Cluff. What a wonderful life he led and touched so many people.
