Leo Morishita Obituary

Leo T Morishita

Leo T. Morishita died peacefully in Reno, Nevada on September 28, 2016 at the age of 92.

Leo is survived by his daughter Janet Herring (Greg) of Reno, Granddaughter Tammy Barnes (Danny) and Great Grandson Aiden Barnes of Minden, Nevada. Several nieces and nephews whom he was very fond of survived him. Ebe his wife of 52 years, son Walter, father, mother, sister and three brothers preceded him in death.

Leo was born on December 24, 1923 in Shelley, Idaho to Tsuriskichi (Tony) Morishita and Tsune Morita. One of his proudest moments was on June 30, 1944 when he enlisted in the in the United States Army and served as a medic for the 100th Battalion 442nd Regimental Combat Team. This team became one of the most decorated combat teams in American history. While stationed in Italy he met and married Ebe Angelina Lisco. After being discharged from the military he and Ebe moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho where their two children were born, and where he began his lifelong career in the Retail Grocery Business. He moved his family to Reno in 1962 and became an owner of the local Food King Markets. He retired from the grocery business at age 75. He was an avid camper, fisherman, and story teller. Anyone that knew him found a man full of laughter and pride. He loved his family and friends. He lived a good long life.

A private service was held for the family with the interment at Mt. View Cemetery.

My dearest Janet, Tammy and family. I am so so sorry for your loss. I have so many memories of your dad as a young teen. Boy he tolerated us didn't. Tearing thru his store constantly. what a great man and American. He sure served proudly. Hugs to you all. I didn't know until now that he had passed and I am so so mad right now for not being a better friend and keeping in touch. You are always there for me. Love to you all. What lives in our hearts never dies. He is now in your sweet moms Arms.
