Altheide, Robert Dennis
Robert Dennis Altheide September 17, 1962 September 26, 2016 Robert (Bob) Altheide lost his battle with Pancreatic Cancer on 9/26/16 with his family by his side. Bob was born in Stockton, CA on 9/17/62. He moved to Sparks, Nevada in 1995 to work for the Union Pacific Railroad. He became the Local Chairman for the Union and was very involved in employee rights, always taking time to lead and mentor his coworkers. He was affectionately known as "By the Book Bob". He was married to his amazing wife Laurie for 33 wonderful years and loved raising their children Dustin (Heather) and Alissa. His most recent joy came to him with the birth of his two grandsons and best buddies, Zander and Elan. He was the best Papa! Bob was born as number twelve of fifteen siblings and loved spending time surrounded by his brother and sisters, nieces and nephews. Bob was a great man, an amazing father, a devoted husband, a PHENOMENAL Papa, and a fantastic mentor. He was honest, hard-working, caring, and had the best sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Services will be held Sunday, October 2nd at Walton's Funeral Home, 875 West Second Street, Reno, Nevada 89503. Connie Anderson Connie passed away peacefully of natural causes on September 3rd, in her home in Sparks, Nevada. She was 74 years old and was surrounded by friends and family. Connie was born in Pine Ridge, South Dakota on August 23rd, 1942. She was the first born of Alice Lee and Charles Parkhurst. She was a member of the Oglala Sioux Native Indian tribe. During her high school years she moved to Wolf Point, Montana. In 1967, Connie moved to Reno and by the late '60's she was blessed with the birth of her son, Chris. By the mid 1970's she had her second child, Fiana. Connie was a smart, strong-willed and independent person. She chose to continue her education and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Economics from UNR in 1985 and went to work for Washoe Legal Services. In 1987, she was appointed to the Sparks Planning Commission and then reappointed again 1988 to serve a four year term. In 1993, she was hired as an Administrative Analyst with TMRPA. She was continually promoted and deservedly gained the position of Regional Planner. In 2007 she had three wonderful milestones: Connie became a grandmother to Dominic, she received a Master Degree in Planning from UNR, and she retired from working with TMRPA after serving fourteen years. Connie was very involved and politically active, frequently attending City Council meetings. Her daughter Fiana describes her as positive, kind, funny, strong, intelligent and beautiful.
