Reno - Daniel Holthe Danforth, 79, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Renown Hospital in Reno following pneumonia.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Marylyn JoAnne (Jamison) Danforth; his three sons Darin Michael (Sonia) of Alamo CA, Patrick Bradley (Kathleen) of Reno, NV and Kristopher Todd (Danielle) of El Dorado Hills, CA; his two half sisters, Gloria Waddel and Linda Mentzer of Salem OR; two grandchildren, Hanna Kathleen, Zachary Patrick of Reno; brother in law, Robert Trent Davis of Reno NV; niece Debi Jo Collins of Fernley, NV; nephew Byron Trent Davis of Stead NV and many close friends. Dan was proceeding in death by his oldest son, Robert Wayne and his half brother Daniel M Danforth of West Virginia.
Born in Seattle, WA and raised in Salem OR, the son of Arthur Henry and Aldis Margreta (Holthe) Danforth. He was a 30 year resident of Reno, NV.
After graduating from South Salem High School in 1952, he attended Oregon Tech. In 1954, he joined the U.S. Navy
, where he was a Petty Officer aboard a destroyer, USS Wedderburn, serving in Korea and the South Seas.
He was introduced to his wife, Marylyn Jamison, by a mutual friend and they were married in 1957 at St George Catholic Church in Ontario, CA. After his service in the Navy, Mr. Danforth worked in retail management into the early 1960's. His work with several prominent toy companies and ultimately became an independent sale person throughout California and Nevada.
Mr. Danforth had a passion for his wife, family, boating, airplanes and being outdoors enjoying nature.
A celebration of life is scheduled from 2pm to 4pm at "Mi Casa Too" in Reno NV on Friday, February 15, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Community Cats and/or SPCA of Reno NV.
