James Call(1929 - 2014)

James Steelman Call

Born in Yreka, Ca. to Walter and Eva Call. Attended Yreka schools until joining the Navy at age 16. Served aboard the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Tarawa in the Pacific in WWII and was a proud Marine in Korea. A mechanic by trade he worked for several car dealers in Reno as well as Sanford Tractor and at Obexer Boats at Lake Tahoe. He also was a mechanic at the Squaw Valley Olympics. Owned Call's Car Clinic in Sparks before going to work for Sierra Pacific from where he retired.

Married Barbara Williams in Belmont, NV July 2001.

He was an outdoors man from an early age. Hunting, fishing and camping. Interest included flying, riding his motorcycle and sailing. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, daughters Andrea Lathim, Ivins. Utah, Eva Burress, Reno and Elizabeth Hancock, Sparks. Also by stepchildren Gary Williams, Chris Williams and Nicki Humbert of California. Nephews James (Sharon) Drake, David (Lavonne) Drake and niece Janna Howell of California. Not to for-get his friends from the old Pony Bar, you know who you are.

A member of Snowshoe Thompson Chapter of E Clampus Vitus.
