James Talbert Bestick

James (JimBob) Talbert Bestick was born in Marion, Ohio to Mary A. and James Ensign Bestick, both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Maureen Florence Wetzel Bestick and two sisters, Mary E. Lange (John), and Margaret A. Anderson (Tom); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Jim graduated from Buena High School in Sierra Vista, AZ, obtained an Associates Degree from Cochise College in Douglas, AZ, then attended the University of Arizona, in Tucson, AZ. He put his education on hold to serve in the Army
during the Vietnam War
Era from 1970-1 972. After the service he completed his Bachelor's degree at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. He worked within the Texas Department of Human Services, then became Director of Hope Cottage Children's Bureau Home Health Care Program in Dallas, TX. In 1977, Jim moved to Reno, Nevada, to begin a new career in the gaming industry. This is where he met his future wife and best friend, Maureen (MoeBob). Jim worked at Boomtown Hotel and Casino for 29 years. Jim was an avid athlete and a lifelong golfer. He was a three year letterman in 3 sports during his high school years, played baseball for two years for the Cochise College Apaches, and played semi-pro softball while attending Sam Houston State University.
Jim was a quiet man with a keen sense of humor who enjoyed a good laugh and a good time. He was a wonderful friend, husband, son, and brother and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
There will be a celebration of Jim's life at Bully's Bar and Restaurant on Tuesday, November 6, 20 12 starting at 1:00 pm.
