Leonard Marion Haselton succumbed to pneumonia in Reno, Nevada, six days short of his 89th birthday.

A third-generation Nevadan, he was born in Pioche to Wallace and Anne (Middleton) Haselton. He lived in Pioche and Grass Valley, CA, then moved to Tonopah to attend high school. Leonard left school during his senior year to work at Northumberland Mine. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps at 19 and served in England as an aircraft mechanic. After WWII, he returned to Tonopah and joined the Army Corps of Engineers as a surveyor before moving to Bank of Nevada.

Most of Leonard's professional life was spent at First National and First Interstate Bank in Southern Nevada and Northern Idaho. He took a hiatus to work in count rooms at the Last Frontier, Hacienda and Tropicana and to manage the golf pro shop at Whispering Pines, which he co-owned, before returning to FIB. After retiring to Sparks, he worked for seventeen years at Brookside Golf Course.

Leonard married Betty Jo Hanna in 1948; they divorced in 1957. In 1963, Leonard married Lois Beaton. Their marriage lasted until her death in 2008. He also followed his mother and his sister, Delora Johnsen Simpkins. He is survived by brothers, Carl"Pete" Johnsen (Jackie) of Taylorsville, UT, and Jerry Matherly (Margaret) of Las Vegas; daughters JoAnn Newbury and Barbara Hyatt; granddaughters Corrie Hyatt (Sonny Snodgrass), Lindsey Hyatt, and Stacey Hyatt Garcia (Rogelio); and great grandsons, Felix and Mateo, all of Sparks. At his request, a wake will be held in Tonopah at a later date.
