Marilynn Edwards Pinkerton of Reno passed away peacefully at home on February 2nd 2013. She was born on November 3rd, 1922 in San Francisco, Ca. to Marguerite and Ford Edwards. She was educated at Sacred Heart School in Menlo Park. Marilynn then attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, and was active in the Alpha Phi Sorority. After a short career in customer service for Western Airlines, she married U.S. Naval Officer Chester Frank Pinkerton on January 29,1946 in Burlingame, Ca. His naval career took them from Annapolis, MD. and Norfolk Va., Oakland, Ca., San Diego, Ca. and Hawaii, finally winding up in the San Francisco Bay area. His second career as a math professor at the University of Nevada brought them to Reno in 1960. Marilynn was active in P.E.O. Chapter J, Hidden Valley Women's Golf club, and several local bridge groups. Marilynn was preceded in death by her husband Chester. She is survived by her daughter Adele Andrews (Tom) of Reno, son Daniel Pinkerton (Jane) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her family would like to thank The Seasons for the loving care they provided for the last 10 years, and Vista Hospice Care which helped so much in the last three months. We also thank her lifelong friend Ann Bruck Cunningham for her love and loyalty to Marilynn.
