Ronald Snider Obituary

Ronald K. Snider

January 16, 1943

September 30, 2013

Sadly, our eldest brother Ron passed away September 30th in St. Louis, MO. Born to Merle and Glenda Snider January 16, 1943, Ron went to local schools, graduating in 1980 with degrees in history and political science. Ron proudly served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, taking part in the first Marine landings at Danang, South Vietnam in 1964; discharged in 1969. President of Sparks Jaycees, the Haunted House was one of his favorite projects. Moving to St. Louis in the 80's, Ron worked the next 30 years as a computer programmer for the Department of Defense. Our family saw little of him during the ensuing years. Despite the physical distance between us, he was forever in our hearts and minds. Ron was the most compassionate, generous person, giving to over 30 charities a year. He is much loved and will be missed by many. Surviving siblings are Lyle, Glen and Merlene Cardnuto (Michael) as well as nieces Melissa and Michele; nephew Matthew (Michelle) and grand-nephew Caiden. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, NV Saturday, November 16th at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow at the Snider Residence. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local SPCA. Contact [email protected] for more details.

I wish the best for Ron's family, all my friends since high school and know Ron is in heaven in his Jaycee outfit and once a year in his Halloween ghost getup. He traveled the world with the JCI Senate (Senator #JCI #27059 & past NV JCI Pres.) and went to many, many JCI World Congress'! I was privileged to have him as a friend all these years and to travel also. We were Viet Nam War Veterans and college Pals also. God Bless you Ron and smile down on all of us when we do silly things as we continue onward down here and yes, laugh out loud at us.
Thank you for being my friend and a great NV & Sparks Jaycee,
Your Pal John, Past NV Jaycees & Senate President.

Ron had many friends and will be missed. His love of music always impressed me of course his favorite was jazz and blues. We were always the three musketeers and attended many meetings together. We traveled the State of Nevada and he was always up for a political discussion. His family also loved music and they loved Ron. He always remembered his time in the US Navy in Vietnam and loved being a JCI Senator. We are all getting older and will face passing over. Our prayers are with you my friend that you will be with Christ in the hereafter. AMEN

Ron represented the best of the Nevada Jaycees and the Nevada JCI Senate as an ambassdor to the world through his participation in many JCI World Congresses and the friends he made during his journeys, especial within the extended JCI family in so many other coutries around the world. He epitomized the phrase that "Friendship has no Boundaries" as his friendship extended not only across the U.S., but around the world.

My sympathies to the family. Ron was a fine person. I had numerous interactions with him over the Jaycee years and found him generous with his time and concern.
