Wesley Mavis was born May 17th, 1929 in Drake North Dakota, son of Arthur and Caroline (Jan) Mavis. He was raised and educated at Drake (with his twin brother Wallace), graduating from Drake School in 1947. After graduation Wes enlisted in the navy. In 1952 he was part of the occupation force of Japan and served in Korea in 1950.

He met Irene McKernan, daughter of James and Irene McKernan in 1952 and married her on June 20th, 1954. They had twin boys James and Joseph in 1955 and daughter Carol in 1956, moving to Missoula, Montana in 1961. From 1961 to 1965 he worked at Butteries until moving to Reno, Nevada in 1965 where he began to work at Mayfair Market until 1968. In 1996, he decided to retire with his wife, Irene and return to Butte, MT.

Wesley is survived by 3 loving children, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and his final remaining sister Norma Sahli who resides in Fridley, Minnesota.

Wes passed peacefully in his sleep at 12:47 am on December 30th, 2012, surrounded and embraced by his loved ones. He had requested in lieu of flowers, donations and condolences be sent to either the Our Lady of the Rockies foundation in Butte, MT or to your local VFW. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Sparks, NV on Monday, January 14th at 10:30 am.
