John Warmouth Obituary

John A. "PAPPY" Warmouth

March, 1929 -

October 21, 2013

He was a Marine. Above all else, he was a Marine. He enlisted in the Marine Corps when he was under age and was sent home until his mother relented and signed papers allowing him to rejoin. His first assignment was China where he liked to brag he received his high school diploma. During the Korean war he was with the 1st Marine Division. They fought their way out of the Chosin Reservoir during the winter of 1950. He was wounded in this battle and sent home until permission was granted for him to return to his unit.

After his return to civilian life, he married Vera and had 3 children. They lived in Livermore, CA where he worked for Lawrence Livermore Lab. He missed the military life so he joined the Army Reserve. Over the years he completed Ranger Training, Airborne Class of 1967 and many other assignments. He finally retired from the military after 34 years of service and the rank of Command Sergeant Major.

In 1972, he met and married Pat McDougall. Together in 1993 they moved to Sparks, NV where he joined the Marine Corps League, Military Order of the Purple Heart, and the chosen Few.

He is survived by his wife Pat, and his children John (Sandy), Mark (Susie) and Kathy, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name to the Veterans Guest House, 880 Locust, Reno, NV, 89502 would be appreciated.

Thank you Pappy for your love, respect and mentorship. I would not have been the officer I became without your blessings and wise council. It was my distinct honor and privilege to serve with you. You always brought out the best professional in all of us regardless of our failings.
Much Love and Respect and looking forward to seeing you in Heaven!
