Barry Wayne Hickerson

Barry was born December 11, 1946 in Klamath Falls, OR. He passed away unexpectedly on May 11, 2016 from Cardio-pulmonary arrest while on an Alaskan cruise with this beloved wife, Valerie, and friends Bob & Gayle Sato.
Barry attended school in Alturas from elementary through high school, graduating from Modoc High School in 1964. In high school, he played sports, was a member of the band, but most of all he enjoyed a good gathering with his friends.
Barry attended Yuba College for 2 years; he continued his education at California State University, Chico, graduating with a major in Business Administration. He served as a medic in the Army Reserves. Barry developed his interest in surveying while working summers in Alturas for the company that developed California Pines. This passion contined as he built his company, Tri State Surveying. He owned and operated Tri State for many years until he sold and retired in 1998.
In retirement, Barry and Val spend their time enjoying many travels: camping, fishing, pontoon boating, winters in Arizona, cruises and countless hunting trips with family and cherished friends. He loved their cabin in Jackson Meadows and snowmobiling. Barry enjoyed teaching all of his and other children and grandchildren about the outdoors. For the past 11 years, Barry's other travel companion was his four legged friend Jessie.
Barry was past President of the Nevada Association of Land Surveyors, and member of the hunting foundations. He was full of life, stories, knowledge, and adventures.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Chuck & Erma Hickerson. Aunts and Uncles, Fred & Marge Lybarger, Myrnie & Mickey Baldwin, Sr, Cousins Tim McTimmond, Gary Lybarger.
He left behind the love of his life, best friend and wife Valerie, and all of their children and grandchildren: Tera Hickerson, grandson Zane Hickerson-Doty, Debbie Thelin, husband Jace, grandchildren Maya & Ashton, Stevie & Caden, Rusty Combest, All of Sparks, NV, Sister Bonnie Slinkard, husband Don, family Bryan Slinkard, wife Jenny, children Casey & Lucas, All of Chico, CA, Kerry Audi, husband Chuck, Portland, OR, Very Special Aunt Pat McTimmonds, Whitmore, CA, Brokther-In-Law Phil Strauch, Sister-In-Law Phyllis Davenport. Several cousins, nieces, nephews, and very close friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barry's name to Nevada Association of Land Surveyors (NALS) College Fund, c/o Lumos & Associations, Inc., 800 E College Pkwy, Carson City, NV 89706, or a charity of your choice.
A celebration of Life will be held in Barry's honor, details to follow.
