Charles Richard Gallegos passed Saturday, April 5th,2014.. He was a brave warrior who lived despite terminal liver cancer for 5 years after his diagnosis. He was born in Hayward , California, May 15, 1947 to Herman and Elanor Gallegos who predeceased him. His brother, Anthony (Sonny) Gallegos (Hayward), sister Mary Jimenez (Larry) San Leando and cousin(fishing buddy) Oscar Vega , Valley Springs also predeceased him.

Charles is survived by his beloved partner and wife Terry Ann Stone (Reno),children Damion Gallegos, Oakland, Melonie Gallegos (Rob), San Diego, Bridget Varvel (Justin), Phoenix, Charles Anthony Gallegos Reno and step-son Chris Brown, Vashon.. He is also survived by sisters Yvonne Meri (Bob) Idaho and Beverly Gallegos (Martina)Idaho. Charles adored his grandchildren, Izalia Harrel, Denver, Santino and Faith Varvel, Phoenix and his god-daughter Sophia, (Idaho).Charles was also god-father to his brothers' son Joey . Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews will miss Uncle Rich. Childhood friend and fishing partner, Ray Chew& his many friends will miss his stories and wise counsel.

Charles Richard will be remembered by his family as an avid fisherman, excellent cook and for his loyalty and love of family. .Charles had a " never a dull moment" personality, an incorrigible sense of humor, smooth operator smile, and a gentle, tender heart. He will be sorely missed.

Charles moved to Reno in 1994 to start a new life and continue his career in sheet metal. He fell in love with the mountains and lakes and was happiest when he was out among nature. Charles was a 22 year member of AA/NA.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bowman, Reno Oncology, Dr. Kerlan, UCSF Medical Center, Interventional Radiology Dept. for making Charles' wish come true - seeing his son Charles turn 18 and graduate. Many thanks to the nurses and staff in the LSU at UCSF. The family also wants to express their deep gratitude for the care-giving team from Circle of Life Hospice. Four special women who made life more than an existence, Vicki, Gabriella, Kim and Karen. Your care and support were a blessing to Charles and all of his family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Center for Spiritual Living on Saturday, April 12th,2014 at 11:30 a.m with a potluck reception following at the Reno Triangle Club.
