Darien Jon Werth passed away November 17th in Alameda, California, due to complications with diabetes. At 48 years of age, he was taken from us much too soon.
Darien was born in Reno, Nevada, to John and Leota Werth. He grew up in Washoe Valley where he was active in 4-H. He attended local schools through his sophomore year at Wooster High School, then moved to Salina, Kansas and attended Sacred Heart Catholic High School. He enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Enterprise. Upon his discharge, his independent spirit kept him in the Bay Area. He always liked the weather and scenery of California.
Darien's greatest love was his son, Alexander. He enjoyed being a dad, and he was a good father. Darien also had a passion for tinkering with electronics and computers. This led to him furthering his education and launching his career in the field of computer technology where he worked for Autodesk, Barclays Global, Inc., and BlackRock, Inc. in San Francisco. In his spare time, Darien enjoyed playing his guitar and listening to music. He even had his own internet radio station. He enjoyed watching sports, riding his motorcycle and playing video games. His interests made him a hit with his nephews! His favorite vacation spots were Lake Tahoe and Disneyland.
Darien was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents. He is survived by his son Alexander, father John, sisters Lisa (Gary) Buckles and Misti (Mark) Casey, brother Kelly (Christina) Werth, and nieces and nephews: Lindsay (Aaron) Jordan, Evan Freeman, John, Grant and Jack Buckles; Reese and Peyton Johnson, Kirsten and Tyler Casey; Steven, Jacob, Emma and Abigail Werth. A celebration of Darien's life will be held at a later date. Please contact family members for details.
