Dorothy Buckland Obituary
Dorothy Jane Buckland, 73

May 15, 1939

January 9, 2013

Dorothy J Buckland peacefully passed away at her home in Hidden Valley the morning of January 9th 2013. Dottie was born in Johnson City NY on May 15th 1939, the daughter of Dorothy Quinliven Fedorchak and Phillip Fedorchak. She inherited her mothers sparkling green eyes and broad Irish smile and her fathers dark brown hair.

While a resident of Vestal NY Dottie and family spent many wonderful summers swimming and sailing at the family cottage on Cayuga Lake. Winters were spent skiing at Greek Peak where she was an auxiliary Member of the Greek Peak Ski Patrol. She was employed by IBM as a Secretary for 22 years. In 1960 when IBM introduced the 140 I Data Processing System, revolutionary at the time, she was photographed demonstrating the system. Her photos appeared in IBM sales material and received world wide distribution.

In 1979 Dottie and family moved to Reno seeking more sunshine and a better climate. At first she was uncertain about the move, but the first time she skied the Sherwood Bowl at Alpine Meadows where you look down the bright blue waters of Lake Tahoe with a clear blue sky above, her mind was changed. She decided the move was a good one. Dottie was employed by John Ascuaga's Nugget as the Human Resources Secretary for 20 years before retiring in 2003.

Dottie is survived by her husband of 53 years, Rennie L Buckland, son R Scott Buckland of W Hollywood CA, daughter Lisa H Bauman (Keith) of Tecumseh MI, beloved grandson Jacob L Bauman, sister Mary Mezzadonna of Binghamton NY, sister-in-law Dale H Neddo of Jacksonville FL, neice Kelly Neddo, nephews Michael and Chris Neddo, and many wonderful friends and neighbors.

As Dorothy wished, her remains were donated to the University of Nevada School of Medicine as part of its Anatomical Donation Program.
