Floyd Berkley Edgemon

November 22, 1926

November 1, 2012

Floyd lost his brave fight with cancer on November 1, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was a true American Patriot, serving in both the US Navy and US Marine Corps fighting in World War II.

As the first paid Fire Chief at South Lake Tahoe, he transformed the fire department from all volunteers to a fully paid staff with three fire stations and retired as Fire Chief in 1975.

He is survived by three siblings, three children, twelve grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, NV on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 3p.m. Instead of flowers, a donation in memory of Floyd can be made to Seattle Light House for the Blind, 2501 South Plum Street Seattle, Washington, 98144.
