James Eugene Maddux, Jr. (Gene)

James Eugene Maddux, Jr. (Gene), 78 from Sparks, Nevada passed away at his home on Saturday, January 26, 2013 after a long and difficult series of illnesses.

Gene was born May 27, 1934 in Nashville, Tennessee to Eugene and Elisabeth Maddux. He was an only child whom was cherished by his parents throughout his life. He attended Trinity Elementary School, Duncan Preparatory Academy, David Lipscomb College and Vanderbilt University.

In 1957 Gene entered the U.S. Marine Corp in Southern California. He was honorably discharged in 1963 and began his career in banking. He and Jennifer married in 1971. Gene accepted a transfer to Nevada in 1973 where he and Jennifer have resided since.

Gene was a member of the Sertoma Club of Sparks which was an extended family for both he and Jennifer. He served as President of the Sparks Sertoma Club as well as Treasurer for many years and Governor for the District. He was dedicated to participating in all the charitable events to help those in need. The Club members were compensated for all the hard work with

many wonderful social events which Gene thoroughly enjoyed. For those of you who knew Gene, you will recall his unique use of the English language and he would always add humor to any function held.

Gene was preceded in death by both parents. He is survived by his wife Jennifer, sons Jimi (Sparks), John (Georgia), James (Missouri) and Scot (Missouri), grandchildren Destiny, Kevin, Melissa, Troy and Zane and great-grandchildren Anthony and Able and an adoring yellow lab, Abby.

Gene loved boating, fishing, camping and softball. He had a knack for making friends and those friendships lasted a lifetime. He was an honorable man with many special attributes; a true Southern Gentleman who never lost his Southern charm. He loved life and his family. He will be missed by many.
