June 10, 2013

Jim lived in Reno, NV and passed away on the morning of June 10th at his home. He was 79.

Jim was born in Los Banos, California to Herbert William Buker and Julia Mabelle Hefner.

Jim grew up in Colton, California and Klamath Falls, Oregon, where he found his love for the outdoors as young man.

After high school, he joined the Coast Guard to serve our country during the Korean War.

After his service, he moved to San Bernardino California, where he became a professional boxer. He had 12 professional fights (5-6-1) and attended Junior college. Jim then returned home to Klamath Falls and embarked on a carrier at Union Pacific railroad. He took a second job as a reserve detective a job in which he had a true passion for.

After serving 17 years, the railroad offered him a job as Yard Master. He hung up his badge and moved to Reno, NV. Jim put in another 18 years for the R. R. He retired and went to work for the Nugget as security guard, during which time he found one of his life's passions, golf. Jim's gentle nature, dry sense of humor and unforgettable laugh will be remembered by all he touched.

He is survived by wife Judy Buker, numerous daughters, son, grand children and great-grand children.
