Mickey Cox

February 28, 1941

January 11, 2013

On January 11, 2013, Mickey Cox, Astoria, Oregon's favorite innkeeper checked out. Mickey loved Astoria and the people of Astoria. We like to believe that everyone who knew her loved her right back. She was best known as the innkeeper of the Astoria Inn Bed and Breakfast, the purple house on the hill.

Mickey was born in Reno on February 28, 1941 to Mike and Evelyn Carson. She attended local schools, graduating from Reno High School in 1959. She spent many years as a loving daycare provider to a host of children in her home. In 1995, having been intrigued by Astoria, Oregon in a movie, she moved there and became a vital part of that charming community. She loved sharing her beautiful home which overlooked the Columbia River. She hosted guests from around the world and many of her guests returned year after year. She prided herself on serving a gourmet breakfast on lovely dinnerware on a beautifully appointed table. Fresh baked delights were awaiting each guest as they arrived.

Mickey was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William "Bill" Carson. She is survived by her sister, Virginia "Ginny" Mills of North Carolina; a son Michael Cox (Hollis) of Reno and Lake Tahoe; and a daughter, Kathleen "KC" Sharp (Larry) of Livermore, California.

There will be a celebration of her life held on February 11, 2013 at "The Chapel" at 1099 So. Virginia from noon until 2:00 p.m. Please come and share your stories.

Memorial donations may be made to the Clatsop County Animal shelter, 1315 SE 19th St., Warrenton, Oregon 97146.
