When a husband loses a soul mate, the family's world is changed forever. Nora Dent passed away this week after a brief illness, just 3 days before her 88th birthday. Her surviving husband, Percy Dent, and many of their family members were with her to provide comfort during her last few days.
Percy and Nora moved to Reno from Bremerton, WA in 1980 and quickly became a part of the local ballroom dancing scene. They were so well matched in technique and ability that it was not uncommon to see other couples drift off the dance floor in order to watch the grace and agility of this amazing couple.
When they weren't dancing, they were playing golf at one of Reno's many courses. Never excellent golfers, they nevertheless enjoyed the game and enjoyed the camaraderie of being out in the sun together for a few hours.
When they weren't dancing or golfing they were off traveling the globe with extended road trips to nearly every state in the US including Alaska, plus international travel to China, Europe, Australia, Canada and Mexico.
In recent years, Percy and Nora divided their time between their Reno home and their home in Yuma, AZ, traveling between the two cities in their 32' RV "home on wheels" which they both enjoyed immensely.
The couple celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary just a week ago. While this wasn't the first marriage for either of them, it was the longest and the best. Nora is survived by her beloved Percy and her son Mike Dunn and daughter-in-law Sandi from Arlington, WA, as well as step-daughters Pam Christensen and Penny Pompei, step-sons Chris Dent and David Dent, plus 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 26th at the Mountain View Mortuary in Reno.
