She was born in Hastings, Nebraska to Bessie and James Martin and grew up in Hastings as part of a large loving family. She attended Hastings Senior High School. As a young girl she loved gymnastics and pretty clothes, as she was indeed a true beauty. When you thought of Opal you thought of the color purple. She was also generous and compassionate to friends and family, welcoming them into her home and reaching out to them in times of need. She wed William Dietrich Sr. in 1948 after moving to Reno from Nebraska the previous year. Following their marriage she worked as a very talented hairdresser for many years and later for the family business, Deluxe Body and Frame Shop as the office manager. In 1950, she and William (Bill) welcomed their son and only child, William Jr. (Billy). As a youngster, Opal was raised in a Quaker family. In her later life she found great comfort in her religious beliefs, which helped her to deal with the loss of her only son and husband. Services will be held on Friday, February 22nd, at 11:00 at Mountain View Mortuary on 425 Stoker Ave in Reno. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery next to her two Williams.
