Douglas Ward Munson, 69, of Reno, Nevada, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on July 4th, 2013. Born in McGill, NV, to Albert and Madge Munson, he spent his teen years in Yerington, where he graduated high school, before moving to Reno where he lived most of his life.
Ward's life was carpentry which led him to owning his own construction company, Action Construction and Development, laying claim to many of Reno's commercial properties.
Ward was a true son of Nevada and enjoyed a lifetime of hunting, hiking, camping and most notably fishing, as he would regularly state "The catching is not so good, but the fishing couldn't be better."
Ward was extremely loving and proud of his two daughters, Pam Peters and her husband, Ric, and Kim Van Geel and her husband, Charles. He is also survived by his sister Janice Banta and her husband, Roger, of Yerington; and his brother Pat Munson and his wife, Delores, of Redding; as well as 5 grandsons and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his adoring parents Albert and Madge, and his favorite child "Dusty", his beloved golden retriever.
The family would like to sincerely thank Saint Mary's Hospice for their unfaltering love, devotion and compassionate care they provided to him and his family.
A private family celebration of his life is planned, no services will be scheduled.
