Betty Nesler was born on May 1, 1923 in Reno Nevada to Thelma and Carl Steiner. She was an only child. Her parents divorced when she was very young. Thelma then married Louis Schwandt and Carl married Rose Steiner. Betty enjoyed her two sets of parents for most all of her adult life until their passing.
Betty met the love of her life, Lewis Nesler, after graduating from Sparks High School. They were married in Stead, NV, on Nov. 7, 1943. They had a very short time together before Lew was sent overseas during WW II. After he returned, they made their home in Sparks and had their 3 boys, Ron, Bob & Doug.
Betty was a secretary at Dilworth Middle School for 20 years. She always had a smile and was there to help anyone who needed it. Betty and Lew never met anyone that they weren't immediate friends with. She will always be remembered as feeding all the kids that came to her house. She loved to cook and will always be remembered for "Toot's tacos", macaroni & cheese and her world famous root beer floats.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Lew. She is survived by her 3 sons, Ron, Bob (Cindi) and Doug (Margaret), 6 grandchildren, Cariann Nesler, Sarah (Brian) Bird, Chad (Stephanie) Nesler, Megan (Mike) Gisi, Todd (Jessica) Nesler and Amy Nesler and 5 great grandchildren, Liliana and Lea Gisi, Parker and Connor Nesler and Oliver Nesler.
