Annie Compagnoni Obituary
Annie Compagnoni

Once upon a memory

Someone wiped away a tear

Held me close and loved me

Thank you Mother Dear.

Annie Del Grande Compagnoni passed away on Monday evening, April 7, 2014 at the age of 96.

She was born in Verdi, Nevada on February 20, 1918 to August and Ida Del Grande. She attended local schools and married Attilio Compagnoni in 1936. Annie worked as a grocery clerk at Washoe Market on Virginia St. for over 15 years. This was something of a family affair as her two brothers-in-law, Emilio and Guido Compagnoni, ran the meat counter. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Church all of her life and an active member of Saint Thomas Aquinas Altar Society.

Upon retirement in 1959, Annie became an avid golfer. She enjoyed over 30 years of golf at Washoe County Golf Course with her husband Tillie, her neighbors Adolf and Ozzie Schmidt, and many other golfing friends. She made many friends over the years as a member of the Washoe County Ladies Golf Association. Annie was a competitive golfer and loved to play in tournaments. She always played to win. She put away her clubs when she was 84 declaring that it really wasn't much fun to play if you couldn't compete.

Annie and her sister, Lena, were excellent cooks having learned the art from their mother Ida. They loved to gather family and friends together for traditional Italian dinners which usually included their legendary ravioli and rosemary chicken.

Annie is preceded in death by her husband Attilio Compagnoni; daughter Linda Pincolini ; nephew Lee Del Grande; brother Lino Del Grande, sister and dearest friend Lena Carano and her son-in-law Randy Capurro.

She is survived by her daughter, Annette Capurro; her grandchildren Gina Gardner (Ken); Tony Capurro (Julie); Christopher Capurro (Chrissy); Gabe Pincolini (Tiare); Bridget Pincolini; Michon Pincolini; 11 great-grandchildren; niece Caryl Rabedeaux (Clayt); grandnephew, Stan Stringham (Celeste), grandniece Karen Egan (Tom); grandnephew Stuart Stringham (Vicki) and 6 great-grandnieces and nephews.

Annie was a friendly, sweet woman who made many friends over the twelve years that she resided at Five Star Premiere Living. Our family is grateful for the comfort she took in belonging to the community and the loving care she was given by the staff and caregivers over the years. Her last days were spent in Assisted Living and we can never express our thanks to the "Angels" who looked after her in the last months of her life.

In accordance with her express wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial services. We are confident that all who knew and cared for her will send many prayers and blessings her way.
