Dennis was born in Braddock, PA to Helen and Piotr Laczynski. Adventurous at an early age, he acted on the saying "Go West Young Man" and headed for the evening sun. In 1978 Dennis and a friend drove out to Reno from Pittsburgh, PA in a VW bug. He immediately fell in love with the desert and chose to make it his home. He may have loved the West but his heart remained in Pittsburgh when cheering for the Steelers or Pirates. Dennis also shared interests in technology that saw him work through a career at various Reno companies to include: J.C. Penney Company, NV Energy and currently Employers Insurance Group, since 2006. Dennis was a dedicated father and close friend to many. His presence and big smile could light up any event. His trademark "Whatzup" let everyone know "Homey's in the house." The community benefited from his big heart and generous nature. He organized youth hunts and shotgun clinics, along with fishing derbies and back-to-school shopping events for children. Dennis was an avid sportsman, accomplished hunter, poor fisherman and even worse softball player. He will be best remembered by his incredible gift to make people laugh. His happiest days were spent camping and exploring the wilderness. With the open sky as his stage, a campfire as the spotlight, and a shovel handle as the microphone, his comedy made his friends and family laugh until they cried. His untimely passing was due to a freak ATV accident near Gerlach. Dennis is survived by his brother Mark, his two sons Tyler and Conner, and the love of his life Kelly. A celebration of life will be held at 3pm on Thursday, June 19th at Ross, Burke and Knobel Mortuary located at 2155 Kietzke Lane, Reno NV with reception following at the Little Waldorf Saloon, 1661 North Virginia Street, Reno NV. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to Northern Nevada Chapter of SCI, Dennis Laczynski Scholarship Fund 4790 Caughlin Parkway PMB 227 Reno, NV 89519
