Carole Lynette Hunter, 78, of Sparks, died peacefully Friday, June 20, after a brave and brief battle with cancer. She was comforted by family and friends at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno.
Carole was born June 21, 1936 to the late LaVerne and Hobart Hunter in Geneseo Kansas. She spent her youth growing up on cattle ranches, including Fred McMurray's ranch in Healdsburg, Calif. along with her two brothers. Carole graduated from Healdsburg High School in 1954. She was married to the late Francis Rafanelli in 1955 and they had three children together. She later relocated to Reno/Sparks in 1975 where she met her best friend and loving companion of the past 15 years, Jim Coffman.
Carole was preceded in death by her dear brother, Banks Hunter and two of her three children, Tracy Kincaid and Brad Rafanelli. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Steve Purcell; son-in-law Kip Kincaid; as well as six grandchildren and one great grandchild. She enjoyed spending time with Jim, family and friends. Carole had an unmistakable Hunter laugh which was contagious. She was truly the life of many family & friends gatherings. She will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Holiday Inn, Great Basin Room, McCarran & Nugget Ave. Sparks, Saturday, June 28, from 1:00-3:00.
