Susan Neff Wilson

Feburary 21, 1942

July 22, 2012

Susan Neff Wilson was born in Boston Massachusetts, Feb. 21, 1942 and passed away July 22, 2012 after fighting colon cancer for nearly five years. She moved to Fresno, California when she was four years old and attended school in Fresno, Montecito School for Girls in Santa Barbara, Miss Hamlin's School for Girls in San Francisco, University of Nevada in Reno, and St. Mary's School of Nursing, also in Reno. She worked at St. Mary's Hospital until she took time off the raise her three children, then returned to work at Riverside Skilled Care where she blessed the lives of many patients in their final days with her humor, compassionate care, and small treats she knew they would enjoy. She spent her last 12 years as a nurse working with Dr. Jay Chamberlain at Ralston Family Practice and then moved with him to Sierra Nevada Family Medicine where she continued her excellent and compassionate nursing care. She enjoyed extensive travel with family and friends which, along with her love of animals and gardening, were among her favorite pleasures. She, along with her husband, also enjoyed involvement with the Reno Aquatic Club during the many years her children swam competitively. She was preceded in death by her father Dr. Richard S. Neff and her mother Morgot Ardlie Neff. Surviving are her husband of 48 years Cal, children, Ardlie Davis, Chris Wilson (and wife Sonia), Joe Wilson (and wife Kim), sister Sandy McGivern and niece Kelly McGivern and nephew Ted Neff, and eight grandchildren: Kristin Ashcraft, Elyssa Davis, Zachary Davis, Brandon Davis, Natalie Wilson, Darren Wilson, Hunter Wilson, and Aubrey Wilson. Also surviving are her loving pets Hank and Maggie (dogs) and Rusty, Dusty, and Sadie (cats). She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. A special thanks to Dr. F. Craig Conrath and the wonderful employees of Reno Oncology Consultants for their loving and professional care. In lieu of flowers please donate to Nevada Humane Society or SPCA of Northern Nevada. A Memorial service is scheduled July 31st at 11:00 am at Mountain View Mortuary, 425 Stoker Ave. Reno, Nevada.
