Wanda lived her life her way. Her first job and passion was taking care of her children then eventually allowing her children to take care of her in her later years. Wanda was proud of working with honest determination first as a young lady part time manager of the movie theater in her small home town of Susanville, California then later in her dress shop in Alaska.
Wanda moved to Reno, Nevada in the late 1960's to raise her two youngest children proudly on her own. Wanda started selling electric scissors, as a temporary worker, during the holiday season at Sears in the Park lane mall. She would scour the back room and come up with new things to sell using tenacity and innovative. Wanda became the Candy Lady at Sears, manager of candy bar and the snack bar then retired selling furniture for Sears.
Wanda was proceeded by her two loving Fathers, her mother Hazel, her sisters Ruth, and Dorothy. Wanda loved traveling with her brother in law Clark Boyd and missed him dearly upon his death.
Surviving Wanda are her children Debbie Quick, Bill Lane, and Robert Karnes. Wanda enjoyed her grandchildren and great grand children, from Bill, and went on many trips with Debbie and her son- in- law Duane. Also surviving Wanda is her half-sister Maria and Nice Sherrie.
As Wanda wanted no services will be held. We think raising a glass in her honor would make her smile. A marker in Susanville will be placed at a later date.
