Anthony "Tony" Ansono Dianda

Tony was born in Reno to Pete and Lena Dianda on May 22, 1934, and attended Reno schools McKinley Park, Huffaker, and Billinghurst, and was in the first graduating class from the "new" Reno High School on Booth Street in 1952.

He went to work at the Southern Pacific Freight House in Reno until Dwight Eisenhower ("I never would have voted for the guy") requested his presence in the U.S. Army in September of 1956, serving 2 years of active duty and 4 years in the reserves.

In 1964 Tony went to work for his brother, Norm, and good friend, Lawrence Quadrio, when they started Q & D Construction. He was still spending a couple hours a day going in to Q & D until golf season began. Tony started volunteering at Brookside Golf Course when he retired in 1999. Once Brookside closed, he moved over to Rosewood, where he worked as a starter and marshal.

Tony is survived by his wife of 33 years, Edna; brother, Norman (Laura); sister, Sandy (Don) Kerr; stepson, Paul (Tammy) Choinski; grandchildren, Winter, Michelle, Ryan and Gabriel; nephews and nieces, Mike (Juli) and Chris (Jamie) Dianda, Jeff, Paul and Cameron Kerr, Jordan (Dara) Strickland and Elisa (Steven) Homestead, and many more nephews, nieces and cousins, all of whom he loved.

Services will be held at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, 1138 Wright St., Reno, on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 10 am, with a Celebration of Life following the services at Pinocchio's, 4820 Vista Blvd., Sparks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bishop Manogue Catholic High School, 110 Bishop Manogue Drive, Reno, NV 89511, Lena Dianda Memorial Scholarship Fund.
