Bill was 87 years young and is larger than life for all that met him.
Born in Sioux City Iowa and the youngest of 3 brothers, Bill joined the US Marines at 17 and served in the 6th Marine Division in Guadalcanal, Okinawa and China in WWII. He fought in the infamous Battle for Sugar Loaf Hill in Okinawa, called the Bloodiest Battle of the War by Newsweek Magazine.
When he returned from the war, he worked on the railroad as a fireman and eventually founded WAK Construction in 1979 in Houston, Tx. Being licensed in 22 States, he opened an office in Reno in 1991 and Bill and his wife Jerry lived here the rest of their lives. They donated to the community on many different levels, most of them anonymously.
He was a strong Christian that simply had an effect on everyone he met... he was a hero, a dedicated family man with a strong moral compass that resonated throughout his life.
Bill & Jerry had a daughter Lisa Sharon, her husband Ron and a son Matt and his wife. The Grandchildren on Lisa's side are Jennifer, Brian and Stephanie.
Services will be held Friday, June 14th at Reno Christian Fellowship on Zolezzi Lane at 2PM.
