Upon graduation from Carson City High School, Rita obtained her cosmetologist license and became a successful hairstylist in Reno for over 35 years, enjoying 25 of those years at Railroad Annies. Well recognized in her chosen field, Rita was appointed to the Nevada State Board of Examiners for all new stylists. Upon moving to Spanish Springs, Rita truly enjoyed her new career in nutritional services at S.S.H.S. Her love of kids, and her co-workers, made this a most enjoyable time for her.
Rita's love of cooking, scrap booking, and camping, most notable the annual 4th of July outing at Stampede Reservoir, where Rita presided as Grand Marshall for the 4th of July Campground parade, were special to her. Her infectious laugh, smile and caring personality, will be missed by all of us.
Preceded in death by her parents, Eric and Darlene Nelson, Rita is survived by her husband David, son, Derek, daughter Wendy, sister Linda (Glen) Barrow, and numerous nephews and nieces.
A celebration of Rita's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The
