Charles "Chuck" T. Reavis Jr. was born February 15, 1947 in St. Louis, Mo to Charles Sr. and Janet Reavis. Chuck was raised with his sisters Carol and Cheryl in Napa CA after moving there when he was 13. Following his High School Graduation in 1965 Chuck enlisted in the US Marine Corps and proudly served his country with two tours in Vietnam before being discharged with a purple heart.

Chuck's long and honorable career in Law Enforcement began with the California Highway Patrol, he was assigned to the LA/Malibu/San Leandro areas before he set his focus on the Silver State. He joined the Douglass County Sheriff's Office as a deputy, then participated there with the Joint Regional Drug Task Force. In October of 1973 Chuck signed on with the Reno Police Department while he continued to be affiliated with the JRDTF. He quickly made the rank of Sergeant. He served with distinction in many departments, Undercover,Vice, Patrol, K-9 Sgt and Robbery - Homicide Detective, he advanced to Lieutenant, assigned as Internal Affairs head before being medically retired in 1991.

He remained active after RPD working with Pennington Detectives, Comstock Surveillance , and head of Riverboat Surveillance. Chuck worked in a civilian capacity with Washoe County Court Services and with the State of Nevada Parole and Probation Division.

Always known as a colorful guy with a quick wit, his passion for all things history, the Civil War in particular, he was finally starting to write his book project. After his retirement he also achieved over 20 years of sobriety, and worked with others in a Twelve step program. Chuck made a positive difference for his community that will stand the measure of time. Chuck also was blessed with two children, Dennis and Kristin.

Chuck was active in sports most of his life. He loved football, basketball, baseball, and riding his horse in the Virginia City foothills with his wife Sandy.

Sadly Chuck passed away in the family home April 1st, 2014 in Reno due to complications from heart surgery.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Janet Reavis.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Sandy, son Dennis (Jamie) and their children, Dillon, Megan, Michael and Mackinsey of Lincoln, CA, daughter Kristin Weber (Buck) and their son Jeremy of Lemoore, CA as well as his stepsons Rick (Annie) Breese, Brent (Kristi) Breese and their children, Devin, Isabelle and Kyla.

Chuck is further survived by his siblings Carol Wright of Oregon and Cheryl Simone of Elk Grove, CA

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Chuck's honor at VFW Post 9211, 255 VFW Historical Lane, in Reno, April 12, 2014. at 2p.m.
