Marilyn Lee Rushing, 68, died at home on February 1st, following a valiant battle with ovarian cancer, with her family at her side. Marilyn was born August 18th 1947, in Hollywood, California to William and Violet (Klug) Mahood. She attended Encina High, and Sacramento State studying art. She later moved to Reno, Nevada where she met the love of her life, Wayne Rushing. After a whirlwind romance of five months they were married on July 7th 1969 in Reno.

Wayne and Marilyn spent most of their married life in Sparks, Nevada where they raised their four children. They have resided in Boise since 2005 where they moved to be closer to Marilyn's mother. Marilyn and Wayne joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1970, and were sealed for time and all eternity in the Oakland Temple on July 1st 1972. She was a faithful and active member holding leadership callings in Primary, Young Women's, and Relief Society. Marilyn was best known for her creative talents. She spent many hours using her artistic skills to create decorations for family and Church parties. She loved to paint, cook, garden, and come up with fun activities with her grandchildren. Wayne and Marilyn loved to spend time in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and spent many days camping, fishing, hiking, and exploring the backroads. Marilyn was preceded in death by her Father William Mahood.

Marilyn is survived by her Mother Violet Thessen, Husband Wayne of 46 years, and four children, Jake (Shawna) Rushing, Joyce (Tom) Jones, Dan (Jami) Rushing, David (Sarah) Rushing, and 12 grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Saint Luke's Mountain States Tumor Institute, and Hospice for taking such good care of Mom. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
