Kenneth Anthony "Kenny", Groves

Kenneth Anthony Groves "Kenny", 51, of Reno, Nevada passed away suddenly at home on April 11, 2016. Born December 18, 1964 in Provo, Utah to Ken and Ortensia Groves. Shortly after his birth his family moved to Westminster, California where he graduated from High school and took a job with the Department of Defense for a couple years. He continued his government service when he transferred to the United States Postal Service in 1986. He was a letter carrier in Costa Mesa California then transferred to Carson City, Nevada. He left the Postal Service in 2001 and went to the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. He loved to cook but found the hours and workdays un appetizing and returned to the Postal Service in 2003 to work at the Reno Main Office.

Kenny met his wife Cindy, also a letter carrier while he was working in Carson City in 1998, they were married in 2000. Both were very active in the union, National Association of Letter Carriers and extended their family to include all of their Union Brothers and Sisters. He wore many hats as a union official and labor advocate but the most important to him was "friend".

Kenny was preceded in death by his Father Ken. Survived by his Wife Cindy; Mother Ortensia;, Brother Michael; Daughter Brieanne Dumain; and Son Dylan Groves. Kenny was step father to Cindy's daughter Leah Bearce and considered her daughter/friend. Kenny,

You and Cindy were a love story. The love you too had for each other "glowed." You were a great union rep and will be greatly missed. No one could ever fill your shoes--you are a hard act to follow. I know you're in heaven--you were a great man.

Dear Kenny,
You are going to be truly missed brother. You will be missed deeply by your family and hundreds of friends and others you have touched. You will be missed beyond words by the members of Branch 709. Most of the members have no idea how dedicated and hard working you were to the cause of letter carriers getting a fair shake. You were a true leader without making others feel like subordinates. You wore many hats for the union yet your hair always looked perfect. Thanks for taking on the fight, Kenny.
And from a selfish point of view, I'm really going to miss you.lt's not easy finding Angel fans in northern Nevada, much less ones who have the same passions in music, politics, tv and would always laugh at my often bizzare jokes.
Well Joyce and I love you brother. We hope you get front row seats for heavens rock-n-roll in the sky concert tonight.
Love Dan & Joyce Bettridge

I always looked forward to seeing the Nevada delegation when I attended campaign schools or precinct walks in Reno. I am very sorry to hear of Kenny's loss. The Reno walks this October won't be the same without you.

My deepest condolences to Cindy and the rest of Kenny's family. Kenny was a great friend. He had a generous spirit and an easy laugh. He was a good soul who left us too early and will be greatly missed by us.

My heart goes out to you during this time of sorrow. I know Kenny will be missed by so many. He helped Letter Carriers and I know he helped many others. If you need anything, please let me know.
