VanDYKE, Roy Herbert Sr., 78, of Henrico, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Boley VanDyke and Gertrude Guerrant VanDyke; and brother George VanDyke. He is survived by his wife, Johanna VanDyke; son, Roy H. VanDyke Jr. (Shannon); sister, Janice V. Simon (Billy); brothers, James C. VanDyke (Sharla), Sidney G. VanDyke and Larry E. VanDyke (Nancy); stepchildren, Yvonne, Esther and Bobbie Bales and Debbie Bales-Moore; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Roy had a true passion for racing. During the 1950s, he was very involved with the Southside Speedway and other racing facilities. He has raced with Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt and other racing legends.
